The spiral is often associated with the unfolding of divine mysteries and the deepening of spiritual wisdom. The big copper cross with the spiral is a pendant designed by Patricia Healey, an original design in pure copper. The spiral, situated in the middle of the handmade cross, features a terrific amount of texture. Additional texture has been added to the cross through hammering and hand stamping, as well as a technique called repoussé, which lifts the metal from the reverse side to give the design form. The colors are magnificent, with vibrant oranges and reds achieved through torch heating and then sealed with lacquer for protection. This versatile design works for necklaces, fitting a 2 mm cord, would look beautiful as a beaded necklace, and can also be used in ornament designs.
